my most favourite hockey player in the entire world. <3
My laptop right now.
Rick Rypien was more known as an amazing fighter/enforcer for the Vancouver Canucks, but what some people forget is that he may not have ever played for the new Winnipeg Jets, but he has always been in the hearts of Manitobans playing for the the Manitoba Moose. When I migrated to Winnipeg in 2007 the first thing I ever wanted to do was watch a hockey game, when I got my chance The first Moose jersey I ever spotted had Rick Rypien on the back and all I could think of (not knowing much about hockey at the time) was that is such a bad-ass name. He then went on to amaze me with his fighting and other amazing skills as a member of the Canucks (which was then my team to cheer for before the Jets came back).
I regret not knowing enough about hockey during his stints with the Moose, and not noticing him play when he did come on. I’m pretty sure he would’ve only made everything more amazing for me.
When the Jets signed him it made my whole week, knowing that we Jets now have an Enforcer and Fighter for the team. It breaks my heart to know that I will never see him play again.
R.I.P: Rick “Ripper” Rypien 1984-2011
